De Små Skuldre
Små Skuldre

"It is always DE SMÅ SKULDRE (the smallest shoulders) who carry the heaviest burden when mom or dad has an addiction."

DE SMÅ SKULDRE is a danish based treatment offer that supports and takes care of children and young people, who have grown up in a family with alcoholism or other addictive disorders. This is done throughout FREE treatment courses, therapy and teaching.

Did you know that you can support DE SMÅ SKULDRE through VITAVIVA?

WHO IS BEHIND?
Behind DE SMÅ SKULDRE is Tjele Treatment Center in Denmark. They have used their 25 years of experience in treating people with addictive disorders and put together this free treatment offer for children and young people from 8-24 years.

GREATER JOY OF LIFE
DE SMÅ SKULDRE is now on their 5th year after a new grant from the Danish National Board of Health and Welfare, combined with private donations. They experience a wide range of positive results in the wake of the first 5 years of working with children and young people from abusive families.

Most important is of course, that their evaluations throughout the years show that children and young people associated with their offer experience better well-being and increased joy of life as a result of the treatments. This is reflected in the many positive statements from children, young people and parents, just as it is seen in the behaviour of children and young people when they are with DE SMÅ SKULDRE. The smiles get bigger and the troubles seem lighter, with the vast majority as their course progresses.

THE STORY OF JAKOB:
"In the beginning, I thought I was " Jakob alone in the world".... that I was the only 11-year-old in Denmark whose mother was an alcoholic. I discovered that I was not alone, that there were many other children who had the same thoughts and feelings I had, and that it was okay to talk about it.

I found out that it was not my fault that my mother was drinking - even though it was my firm belief. I learned something about trust and how I could rebuild it for my mother, and I learned to be open and honest about my mother's illness. These experiences mixed with laughter, play, loving adults and new friends, made my week with DE SMÅ SKULDRE feel like heaven."
