Mette Skjærbæk is a former successful model – today she is Creative Director and the woman behind the Danish skincare brand KARMAMEJU.
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Mette Skjærbæk – I am from the south of Denmark where I lived until I was 16 – at this time I started travelling the world as a model. 10 years living in metropolises like Milan, Tokyo, London, Paris, and New York gave me a new perspective on life. My passion for natural health grew strong and I found that the “grass was not greener” elsewhere – I returned to Copenhagen in 1999 and founded Karmameju.
I am the mother of two daughters Mila (8) and Felina (15), and I am the Creative Director at Karmameju
What is your everyday routine?
I have many! I make “crazy smoothies” in the morning… smoothies full of all good things for the body, mind and skin.
I work, I play, I do reformer, I love being around people. People are the diamonds in life.. friendships makes me smile!
I eat everything, but I try to live within an 80/20 balance… 80% nourishment with a core of body-respect, and 20% unadulterated fun, anything I feel like – and with no guilt.
I sleep min. 7 hours at night, it is so essential for our health, and I love the night so I have to have rules for my sleep, if not I do not sleep enough.
I am fascinated with all that can stimulate our senses, and I love aromatherapy for being such a powerful stimulant for the skin and the mind.
What is your approach to a healthy lifestyle?
Like mentioned above: 80/20 … However, we know now that happiness is the strongest life-force, so I try to eliminate gulid and “I should” …
I am focused on staying hydrated and breathing well. I believe this is the core of a healthy body and mind.
I have been busy for many years, and I am a high energy person, so one of my missions is slowing down. Do less. Be more present. Every day I sit for 10 min. doing nothing, it is such a challenge for me.. but it is amazing for the nervous system, and I believe we are in a time where we need to say STOP and to rebel against the speed of society. Do less. Be more present.
Why did you start taking VITAVIVA? How do they affect your everyday life?
I “met” Vitaviva years ago, and have used these fine supplements since. I like to take different supplements at different times. I like to boost the body with what I feel it needs at certain times.
Being honest; I can not feel a difference to my life from taking supplements, but I am happy to know that I am doing my body good. As I live a healthy lifestyle it does not give me more energy or less down-days, it just makes me feel good to know that I get enough Omega-3 as an example, as we do not eat fatty fish enough at home. It also makes me feel good to know I stimulate pro-biotic activity in the gut or that I am lessening anti-inflammatory activity with turmeric..
Is VITAVIVA different than other supplements you have taken? If so, why?
Supplements, skincare, etc is all about trust for me. The people behind the brand, the research and the integrity is KEY! I trust the integrity behind VitaViva and this is why I choose this brand over others. I love that doctors are behind the research, and that everything is tested, trailed and proven for results.
Which are your favorite VITAVIVA products and why?
Oh “favorite” is always difficult for me, as I like a lot of things in life… but the supplement I take the most regularly is the WRINKLES AWAY
If you could choose one VITAVIVA product which would it be and why?
The WRINKLES AWAY because it adds ingredients that I won’t get otherwise: resveratrol, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera gel etc. I love 3 IN 1 BEAUTY BOOST, for collagen, silica, anti-oxidants etc.
Do you have a mantra that you swear by?
Well I have always been a water pusher - And on all Karmameju products it says: STAY HYDRATED / DRINK WATER .. but most important for me is our NO BEAUTY WITHOUT TRUTH .. it is very related to KARMA and I believe that we get the most beautiful life from being honest, good people whom take care of each other.. I am so aware that life is short, no matter how long we are here, and the thing I always remind myself is NOW. Life is NOW and we have to make the best of it.
