Beta-carotene is a strongly colored red-orange pigment, which is naturally found in many fresh vegetables, fruits and fungi. Beta-carotene is a pre-cursor to A-vitamin, which means that the human body converts beta-carotene into A-vitamin, and it only converts as much as it needs.
There are no upper tolerable levels of Beta-carotene according to EFSA (European Food Safety).
